BURBANK, Calif., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Pioneer Digital Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of interactive program guides and video applications for multiple cable platforms, today announced that their Passport Echo DVR (Digital Video Recorder) software navigation system has received Motorola's Horizon Program Acadia validation for dual-tuner functionality on the Motorola DCT6412 HD-DVR set-top.(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20020628/PIONLOGO) Passport Echo is currently deployed on multiple DVR set-tops including the Motorola DCT6208 and DCT6412. The new version of Passport Echo will provide dual-tuner functionality for the DCT6412, and can be turned on through a software download to currently deployed DCT6412 set-tops. Dual-tuner functionality provides an unrestricted viewing and recording experience. Customers can watch one program previously recorded on the DVR while recording up to two "live" programs, or they can watch and record programs simultaneously to view at their convenience -- all of this in high-definition!"This marks a milestone for Pioneer in our long term commitment to providing the most intuitive software navigation systems to the cable industry on every deployed set-top platform," said Neil Jones, senior vice president, Pioneer Digital Technologies, Inc. "The dual-tuner version of Passport Echo for the DCT6412 is one of our most exciting and significant product launches to date. Consumer demand for advanced high-definition and DVR video services is at an all time high, and Passport Echo coupled with the Motorola DCT6412 set-top will answer that demand by providing cable operators with a comprehensive and powerful solution for HD-DVR service."Passport Echo features an intuitive Interactive Program Guide integrated with an advanced digital video recording system that enables viewers to watch and record their favorite television programs any day, any time. Two programs can be viewed and recorded easily at the same time in either standard or high definition, and pausing live TV is as natural as controlling a DVD. Three levels of fast-forward and rewind, slow motion, instant replay, and advanced power-user features allow customers to take complete command over their TV viewing. Passport Echo unique feature upgrades include: * Watch one show while recording another * Tuner Swap enables a viewer to switch back and forth between different programs without losing the recording of either program * Buffer Conversion is a time shift buffer that allows a viewer to save a program to the DVR 'Saved Shows' list starting from the moment it was tuned in * Intelligent Title Search is a virtual keyboard that allows for easy title entry with a remote control, and for seamless program searches, typing gets easier because non-selectable characters dim to narrow the search as the title is typed * Keyword Search allows viewers to search for shows with subjects that match a particular word such as "snowboarding" * Enhanced parental control features * Enhanced HD output format controls allows viewers to select the aspect ratio and video output format from the settings menu of Passport Echo With Passport Echo, customers can record a full series of their favorite shows by creating a series recording, or they can create their own custom series by creating a personalized keyword search and recording all matching shows. Viewers also can easily access stored shows and fine tune settings for future recordings. Passport Echo's default settings and automatic content management prioritization system in addition to a wide range of user- controllable features enable it to appeal to all types of viewers, from basic to enthusiast.
