I help hardware startups and crowdfunding campaigns develop, manufacture, & bring products to market at HWTrek. HWTrek is a community-driven platform exclusively for hardware that connects hardware creators with the manufacturing and supply chain and also features a SaaS product developement management tool. I'm responsible for digital engagement, community, social media, and business developement. I liaise with technology journalists and bloggers, and the community of creators, makers, and experts. 

I've been recognized as being an early adopter of using social media in the embedded systems, industrial computing, and electronics industry marketplace. During the past six years, I've been working in the high technology industry in Taiwan, specifically embedded electronics, industrial pc/networking/routing, and intelligent systems. In another life, I was Vice President of Payroll and HR Services in a small BPO organization.

My first computer was an Apple II+. 30 years as a digital native, I have nearly 20 years experience in online community engagement. Including my current work, I've worked in 3 technology startups and 2 non-technology startups.

I have an MA in International Studies specializing in modern China from the University of Washington and have been recognized by Foreign Policy magazine as one of the top 100 foreign policy influencers on Twitter for my China related tweets. In 1996, I was one of five U.S. citizens awarded with a scholarship by China's Ministry of Education to study in China for one year.

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems. Signal integrity sage Ransom Stephens will explain how PAM4 differs from NRZ and what to expect in design, measurement, and signal analysis.
