LatticeMico8, an 8-bit microcontroller core for LatticeECP, LatticeEC, and LatticeXP, and the new MachXO families of FPGAs is now available. To promote interest, Lattice is offering a new open intellectual property (IP) core license that it claims is the first offered by any FPGA supplier.

The EASE Graphical HDL Design Entry environment is touted by both companies as a fast and accurate way for design entry, modification, and maintenance of VHDL, Verilog, and mixed-language designs for FPGA and ASICs.

Altera Corporation announced that shipments of its MAX Series Device reached the 400 million mark after delivering MAX II EPM 1270 devices to TTE Corporation, the world's largest television manufacturer. TTE is a joint venture of TCH Multimedia Technology Holdings Ltd. and Thomson S.A.
