When I was a kid, I would spend hours by myself playing the old Sports Illustrated All-Time All-Star baseball game, which consisted of three dice, more than two dozen team charts and some of the great names in the history of baseball.

The worst that can be said of '03 is that it won't be '02. The stars aligned around that some time ago, when grandpa was trimming the turkey in November and grandma was lavishing holiday gifts on the kids last month.
