Cypress acquires small USB house

Cypress Semiconductor Corp. today announced it has acquired Anchor Chips Inc. (San Diego), a private company specializing in Universal Serial Bus (USB) ICs, for $15 million. The acquisition doubles Cypress' market share in the business.

Fujitsu Microelectronics Inc. (FMI) turned the crank on its process technology Tuesday (May 18), unveiling a 0.18-micron generation process that claims three times the performance of the quarter-micron generation at a third the power.
Avant! acquires Chrysalis

Avant! Corp. said Wednesday (May 5) that it has acquired Chrysalis Symbolic Design Inc. (Billerica, Mass.), a leader in formal verification tools that has long been considered ripe for acquisition. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
