Just What is an Embedded System?
Date / Time: Friday, July 11, 2014, 2:00 PM New York/11:00 AM San Francisco
Overview:

There is some confusion as to what is and is not an embedded system. In some cases, even the experts disagree. Does it have to be electronic, or does a mechanical system count? In the case of electronic systems, assuming they have one or more processors, some people would class microwave ovens, dishwashers, and washing machines as embedded systems. What about smartphones, smart watches, and smart cameras (with Wi-Fi)? How about tablet computers and blade servers? What about an oscilloscope (with the Windows OS) or a set-top Box (with the Linux OS)? How about an automobile?

Join EETimes Radio as EETimes editor of all things fun and interesting, Max Maxfield, and embedded systems expert Jack Ganssle debate just what is or is not an embedded system. Following their 30-minute chat, you can join in the live (text-based) question and answer session.
