Sunnyvale, Calif. Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) has introduced several 45-watt energy-efficient desktop processors that are designed to reduce power consumption and deliver greater performance-per-watt. Some of these processors will help system builders and OEMs to exceed new system requirements of the EPA's ENERGY STAR Version 4 computer specification.
Enhancements to the AMD Athlon X2 dual-core processor are said to improve multi-tasking performance for energy-efficient systems. In addition, many of the Athlon and Sempron single-core processors provide multiple performance and price points to meet diverse consumer requirements. The energy-efficient processors can help reduce the amount of energy PCs consume, thereby decreasing associated cooling requirements and the overall cost of its operation, said AMD.
