SAN JOSE, Calif. -- ATE vendor Verigy Ltd. said revenue for the third quarter was $87 million, an increase of 23 percent from the prior quarter, and a decrease of 51 percent from the prior year period.
Net loss for the third quarter was $21 million, or minus $0.35 per share, compared to a net loss of $30 million, or minus $0.52 per share, last quarter, and net income of $18 million, or $0.29 per share, in the prior year period.
The results for the third quarter included approximately $7 million of charges related to the company's restructuring and manufacturing transition actions, charges related to the company's acquisition of Touchdown Technologies, and an impairment charge for an auction rate security.

For the fourth quarter ending October 31, 2009, the company said revenue is expected to be in the range of $90 million to $100 million. Loss per share on a GAAP basis is expected to be in the range of minus $0.32 to minus $0.24.
