COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Chelsio Communications Inc. has closed a $12 million Series D funding round that included LSI Logic Corp. as an investor. The move represents LSI Logic's first support of network interface card-level applications for 10-Gbit Ethernet duties, such as TCP offloading and remote direct memory access.

Chelsio introduced a series of 10-Gbit cards in 2004 that perform TCP offload processing and RDMA. The new round of financing should carry the company into profitability and will be used in part to broaden marketing in data center and storage applications.
