SAN JOSE, Calif. — Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (TSMC) claims that it has started production of Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 graphics-memory subsystem, based on its 90-nm embedded DRAM process.

ATI, now part of Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD), is said to be supplier the actual Xbox 360 graphics processor. TSMC makes chips on a foundry basis for ATI and others.

TSMC's 90-nm eDRAM process is said to have a high-density macro design (80-Mb) at 500-MHz.
