LONDON &151; Configurable processor licensor ARC International plc has scored licensing wins for its most recent ARC 700 processor core with Infineon Technologies AG and Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe, ARC said Wednesday (Feb. 9).

The win with Infineon (Munich, Germany) is for the use of the ARC 700 processor core plus ARC XY digital signal processing technology in next-generation wireline access products, ARC said. Fujitsu, ARC first licensee, has decided to standardize on the ARC 700 for use in high-volume consumer applications, ARC said.

Running with a clock frequency of up to 405-MHz in a 0.13-micron CMOS manufacturing process, the configured versions of the ARC 700 core family occupy as little as 0.72 square millimeters of die area.

"Because of the success of our ARC-based designs, we have expanded Fujitsu's commitment to ARC's configurable architecture by taking a license for the high-performance ARC 700 core," said Dirk Weinsziehr, senior director of marketing at Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe, in a statement issued by ARC.

"For years, ARC's configurable processor technology has been one of the key enabling technologies in our broadband access product line," said Ulrich Huewels, vice president of system engineering for the wireline access business unit at Infineon Technologies, in a statement.
