SAN DIEGO — Patriot Scientific Corp. has signed a Japanese distribution deal for its Java microprocessor. Japan's Real Vision will market the PSC1000 processor in Japan and will use the core to design custom ICs.

"Real Vision's blue-chip list of [Japanese] customers makes it the perfect partner to bring our leading microprocessor products and technologies into this key market for Patriot," said Jim Lunney, president of Patriot Scientific (San Diego).

The 32-bit PSC1000 is billed as one of the first low-cost, native Java processors. It is aimed at Internet-enabled information kiosks, cell phones, video phones, embedded Web servers and set-top boxes, and a host of other new Internet appliances.
