New Albany, Ind. - Samtec Inc. has expanded its QTE/QSE line of high-speed, matched-impedance interconnect systems to include a differential-pair configuration, which allows frequencies from 5 to 10 GHz without signal degradation.
This connector set reduces electronic noise and interference in high-speed applications, said Danny Boesing, Samtec's marketing director. At 5 GHz, impedance is 103.7 ohms on a 100- ohms differential system, he said, while near-end crosstalk is -31.7 dB and propagation delay is 68 picoseconds. At 10 GHz, impedance is 104.7 ohms and near-end crosstalk is -30 dB, Boesing added. See www.samtec.com/ftppub/testrpt/QTEQSDPE.PDF for a complete summary of testing data, or visit the Samtec Signal Integrity Center at www.samtec.com/signal/index.asp.
The QTE/QSE series is an 0.8-mm-pitch matched-impedance interconnect system with an integral ground plane that isolates the system's two rows of pins and minimizes crosstalk and electronic interference, Boesing said. Both the signal leads and multiple-point ground plane are fully surface-mountable, which improves the electrical and mechanical performance of the connector set, he said.
Customers in need of high-speed interconnects include those that design telecom hubs, servers, high-end workstations, wireless interfaces, and high-end network systems and computers.
Other Samtec high-speed products come on 0.5, 0.635-, 0.8- and 2-mm pitch. These come in standard two-piece, edge-mount configurations for 90 degrees board-stacking and elevated designs, Boesing said.
Pricing in 1,000- to 5,000-piece quantities is roughly 12 cents per mated line. Delivery is stock to one week.
