Coquitlam, British Columbia - The MZ104, an X86 single-board computer in PC/104 format from Tri-M Engineering, has a compact size of 3.55 x 3.775 inches and an off-the-shelf-40 degrees C to 85 degrees C extended-temperature rating. It is targeted at OEMs looking to embed X86 technology in hostile industrial, military, mobile medical or telecommunications environments.
The board uses ZF Linux Devices' MachZ IC. Buried within the MachZ silicon is a 133-MHz 586 processor with both the ISA and PCI buses, derived from the north- and south-bridge core logic, as well as other I/O support.
For applications where power consumption is critical, the CPU clock is jumper selectable to let processor speeds scale down from 133 to 33 MHz. Standard features include two RS-232 serial ports, parallel and USB ports, I2C bus, dual watchdog timers, and dual EIDE and floppy-drive support. A 144-pin small-outline DIMM socket supports two 128-Mbit SDRAMs, and a 32-pin DIP socket contains M-System's DiskOnChip flash-memory disks.
The module is compatible with standard PC software and will run any operating system capable of working on a full PC with floating-point unit.
Pricing for the module with 1 Mbit of BIOS flash is $249. Call (604) 527-1100.
