Warren, N.J. - Anadigics says that its AWT6201 PowerPlexer, in a 10.5 x 11-mm module, is the smallest quad-band RF transmit module available for use in GSM/GPRS and GPRS/UMTS cellular phone handsets.
Combining such technologies as indium gallium phosphide heterojunction bipolar transistor power amplifiers, pseudomorphic high-electron-mobility transistor (pHEMT) antenna switches, integrated passives filters and integrated CMOS power control circuitry, the AWT6201 simplifies the development of single-mode General Packet Radio Service or dual-mode GPRS/Universal Mobile Telecommunications System handsets, the company said.
"Anadigics is addressing the growing demand for integrated transmit module solutions for the 2.5G GPRS and the emerging 3G market," said Ali Khatibzadeh, vice president of wireless products at Anadigics.
The module supports GPRS Class 12 in the GSM850/900/DCS/PCS bands. It operates from a single 3.5-volt supply and has an integrated power controller that is said to simplify the radio design and ensure high manufacturing yield with minimal power control calibration requirements.
Harmonic filtering is achieved with integrated passives technology that enables low signal loss and guarantees conducted spurious performance up to 12.75 GHz. Anadigics says its pHEMT technology enables embedded RF switches to deliver excellent isolation and linearity while supporting four receive ports. High-gain InGaP HBT power amplifiers ensure compatibility with available GPRS chip sets.
In quantities of 10,000 units, the AWT6201 is priced at $4.50.
