SANTA CRUZ, Calif. Optimal Corp., a provider of signal integrity tools for ICs, pc-boards, and packages, has appointed two electronics industry veterans to its board of directors. Optimal selected Len Perham as chairman and Frank Lee as a new board member.
Perham served as CEO of Integrated Device Technology from 1991 to 2000. He helped launch several companies under the IDT umbrella, including Galileo Technology, Quantum Effect Devices, Monolithic System Technology, Clear Logic and Centaur Technology.
In 1994, Lee co-founded of Galvantech, a maker of high-end SRAMs for data communication applications. He served as president, CEO and chairman until the company merged with Cypress Semiconductor in 2000.
Prior to starting Galvantech, Lee co-founded Paradigm Technology and served as vice president of product development. He is currently a partner in the Global Strategic Investment Fund.
Perham serves as chairman of ASAT, a Hong-Kong based provider of IC package design, assembly and test services. He is also chairman of NetLogic Microsystems, a provider of network packet classification and forwarding solutions. Lee serves on the board of directors for Rise Technology and is on the board of advisors for NetLogic, Aplus Flash Technology and Ralink Technology.
Optimal, located in San Jose, Calif., provides PakSi-E, a simulation and design tool for advanced packages; PakSi-Wave, a 3D electromagnetic field extraction simulator; and Sidea (Signal Integrity Design Assistants), a collection of utilities for signal-integrity design.
The company also offers PakSi-TM, a modeling tool for packages, and PakSi-SJF, an "expert system" that predicts the life of IC packages.
