Video: TE Connectivity's CTO David Brown Talks About Power Over Fiber

TE Connectivity recently announced its new power over fiber solution. David Brown, CTO of the company's Broadband Network Solutions Group, talks at EE Live! 2014 about how it extends reach to more than 1 km, enabling deployment of a broader range of devices over the network using a single cable.

This is very good idea of creating ease in the application of the extending the connectivity's, it is based on the PoE but using the same concept for Fiber Cables, I am wondering that why this idea came into limelight after so long period after PoE get initiated.
