Intel to develop advanced compilers with Chinese organization

BEIJING -- In an effort to optimize its microprocessors for next-generation applications, Intel Corp. will team up with the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences here to develop advanced software compilers for R&D purposes. The research is targeted to develop compilers that improve the performance of Intel's Itanium processor family, said Patrick P. Gelsinger, vice president and chief technology officer of the Intel Architecture Group.
