While there's certain to be more integration in both GaN switches and isolated drivers, Transphorm and Silicon Labs are focused on what the technology can accomplish today.  Fast, discrete isolated gate drivers and discrete GaN transistors allow the technology to hit the required voltages and address the thermal environments of EVs.

Navitas Semiconductor has released a reference design for 65-W USB-C charger based on its GaN IC technology. Alex Lidow of EPC has also mentioned in articles that he is working on GaN-based ICs, but is still in research phase.

Excellent article but --- just when there will finally be IC solutions?  That is a next step in integration / miniaturization...
