Matt Denton's Kinetic Spider Bot:
This incredibly fluid moving hexapod is the one that first caught my eye, years ago. Matt Denton's interactive sculpture is actually a hexapod robot, but it doesn't walk around, the one thing that most consider their primary showcase. Instead, Matt's hexapod is equipped with a vision system to allow it to identify and track faces. To this day I have not seen such compelling tracking kinematics. Notice how the entire body of the bot is involved in the facial tracking, not just the "head."
Since I've seen plenty of work that Matt Denton has done elsewhere, I'm fairly positive that this little bot can walk. However, I agree with his decision to make the showcase in this exhibit the facial tracking. It is simply too impressive to water down with anything else.
