LONDON—On Semiconductor is collaborating with GainSpan and Geo Semiconductor to combine image sensing with image signal processing and low-power Wi-Fi. The trio's first collaboration is an IoT reference design for 1080p video.
The GS-AR0330 available via GainSpan and its distributors, targets smart 1080p video streaming over Wi-Fi. On Semi is supplying the AR0330 1/3-inch optical format CMOS image sensor, with an array of 2304 by 1296 pixels. The reference design's processing resource comes courtesy of Geo Semiconductor and offers H.264 encoding/compression of 1080p resolution image content at 60 frames per second (fps), as well as supporting auto white balance, auto exposure and auto focus functions. By detecting movement, an on-board passive infra-red sensor can wake up of the system from standby, so that video streaming can begin.
Typical applications for the board include: automotive backup and driving record cameras, remote and baby monitors, toy cameras, Gainspan said. No price was given for the board.
