Continuing to expand the systems side of its distribution business, Avnet Inc. today announced it has acquired Integrand Solutions, said to be Australia's largest Compaq system-integrator.
The Sydney-based company, which has a $49 million annual run rate and 60 employees, will be called Avnet Integrand, under the direction of Ned Kelly, newly appointed senior vice president of Asia Pacific, Avnet Computer Marketing Group.
According to Colin McKenna, managing director of Avnet Integrand, the acquisition has strengthened the company's position as the leading solutions integrator in Australia's enterprise market.
"Customers now want greater technical expertise married with business solutions knowledge, which we're doing very successfully with our System Integrator and Software Vendor partners," he said.
The former management team and staff of Integrand Solutions will form the core team at Avnet Integrand.
Avnet's Computer Marketing Group (CMG), headquartered in Tempe, Ariz., also includesHall-Mark Global Solutions, and Avnet Computer. The operating group, which posted fiscal 1999 sales of $1.5 billion, distributes computer products to value-added resellers and end users in the mid-range to high-end market segments.
