MANHASSET, N.Y. Power and RF Semiconductor supplier IXYS Corp. posted earnings of $5.5 million, or 16 cents per share on sales of $63.4 million in the second 2006 fiscal quarter ended Sept. 30, compared to $3.8 million, or 11 cents per share on sales of $61.4 million in the year-ago fiscal quarter.
For the six-month period ended Sept. 30, IXYS (Santa Clara, Calif.) reported sales of $126.7 million, up 4.4 percent from $121.3 million for the same period the prior fiscal year. Net income for the period was $10.7 million or 30 cents per share, up 87.3 percent from $5.7 million or 16 cents per share in the same period a year ago.
"We see continued demand in our power and telecommunication sectors, with overall book-to-bill ratio of 1.06 for the quarter, which is an improvement from that of last quarter," said Nathan Zommer, chief executive of IXYS, in a statement.
"We are cautiously optimistic about our next quarter and expect revenues for the December quarter to be relatively flat, as compared to our September quarter," stated Uzi Sasson, chief financial officer, in a statement.
