Fountain Valley, Calif.--Dec. 30, 1997--Kingston Technology, announcedthat it has signed a worldwide licensing agreement with SiliconGraphics, Inc. granting Kingston a license to manufacture its patentedDIMM memory for the Silicon Graphics Origin 200, Origin 2000, andOnyx2 systems. Kingston is now accepting orders and shipping memoryunder this new agreement with SGI.
Available immediately, Origin and Onyx2 memory is built by Kingston toSilicon Graphics' design specifications in 64-Mb, 128-Mb, and 512M-Mb capacities.The 64-Mb kit, part #: (KSG-ORIG/64) has a new, suggested list price of $411,the 128-Mb kit, part #: (KSG-ORIG/128) has a new, suggested list price of$1,379, and the 512-Mb kit, part #: (KSG-ORIG/512) is $10,091.
Incorporating the Silicon Graphics ccNUMA architecture, Origin and Onyx2systems are designed for memory-intensive scientific, technical, visual, andenterprise applications.
Under terms of the agreement, Kingston has become part of SiliconGraphics' Licensed Memory Supplier Program for the Silicon Graphics Originand Onyx2 systems, continuing its long-standing involvement with SiliconGraphics. Kingston is authorized to manufacture memory for these systemsaccording to Silicon Graphics' own specifications, providing Kingstoncustomers with an approved, highly reliable, and aggressively pricedalternative memory solution. Customers who purchase a Silicon Graphicsmaintenance agreement will have the added benefit of on-site maintenancesupport for Kingston memory installed in Origin and Onyx2 systems.
