Hillsboro, Ore.--July 27, 1998--Lattice Semiconductor Corp. (Hillsboro) released the ISPGDX80A for production. The release completes Lattice Semiconductor's 5-volt family of three generic crosspoint devices that includes the ISPGDX80A, ISPGDX120A and the ISPGDX160.
The ISPGDX80A architecture consists of 80 special-purpose programmable I/O cells interconnected by a global routing pool that minimizes signal delays. The device features any-input-to-any-output signal delays of 5 ns, clock-to-output delays of 5 ns, and operating frequencies of 111 MHz. Other performance features include a 4:1 high-speed input multiplexer, registered outputs, tristate or open-drain output options, boundary scan test (IEEE 1149.1) logic, ISPJTAG in-system programming, and PCI-compatible outputs. The ISPGDX80A is offered in a 100-pin TQFP package.
The ISPGDX family (160, 120 and 80 I/O pin devices) are targeted for similar but distinct classes of end-system applications: programmable random signal interconnect, programmable data path, and programmable switch replacement. The PRSI class includes PCB-level programmable signal routing and is characterized by the need to provide a large number of 1-to-1 pin connections, which are statically configured. The PDP class supports integration of system datapath (transceiver, mux, register and latch) functions. Finally, the PSR class includes solid-state replacement and integration of mechanical DIP switch and jumper functions. Pins of the ISPGDX devices can also be driven to fixed high or low logic levels to emulate traditional switch/jumper device outputs.
All ISPGDX devices are supported by Lattice's ISPGDX Development System software, available to customers free of charge from Lattice's Web site. Device design is done using the Lattice Hardware Description Language specifically designed for the ISPGDX device family. It also interfaces to existing third party simulation tools for complete timing simulation in industry standard formats. The ISPGDX Development System runs under Windows 3.1, Windows 95, and Windows NT, or on a UNIX platform running from the command line.
The ISPGDX80A-5 (5 ns speed grade) is priced at $11.65 and the ISPGDX80A-7 (7 ns speed grade) is priced at $8.20 in 100-pin TQFP packaging (1,000 piece quantities). Both are available now.
