MUNICH, Germany With the acquisition of system integrator Mesa Energy LLC, German solar energy equipment provider Conergy AG intends to strengthen its position in the U.S.
According to Conergy, Pennsylvania-based Mesa Energy is a renewable energy solution provider focusing on photovoltaics (PV) applications in B2B and B2C markets as well as in energy consulting. Mesa is active in many market segments where Conergy also is active and is market leader in solar energy system integration, Conergy said.
The U.S. is the world's third largest market for solar energy. With an installed base of 200 MW and a growth rate of 40 percent, it is one of the world's key markets, a Conergy spokesperson explained. In the U.S., the solar energy equipment manufacturer presently has a market share of 10 percent. With Mesa Energy, Conergy now owns two locations in the U.S. Against the background of legislation processes current under way in the USA, Conergy sees "excellent" growth chances, the spokesperson said.
The transaction was completed already in early February, but Conergy announced it only Monday (Feb. 26).
For 2007, the German company plans to double its revenues in the USA. Worldwide, the company plans to expand sales by 60 percent to 1.25 billion ($1.63 billion). For the same period, the company predicts a world market growth of 25 percent.
