SAN FRANCISCOProgrammable logic startup Tabula Inc. has selected the ColdFire embedded controller from IP vendor IPextreme Inc. as the 32-bit processor architecture of choice for Tabula's ABAX three-dimensional programmable logic devices, known by the company as 3PLDs.
Under the agreement, Tabula’s customers will have access to Freescale ColdFire processor cores and other IP cores at prices competitive with processor platforms from leading FPGA suppliers, according to a statement released by the companies Thursday (May 20). IPextreme will deliver and support the ColdFire processor cores through IPextreme’s XPack technology, the companies said.
In a statement, Alain Bismuth, vice president of marketing at Tabula (Santa Clara, Calif.), said the company choose ColdFire for its performance, compact size, ecosystem and standard AMBA system bus for connection of on-chip peripherals.
IPextreme (Campbell, Calif.) packages and supports IP for several versions of Freescale’s ColdFire architecture at different price/performance points.
