SAN JOSE -- Novellus Systems Inc. here today announced that it has appointed Nitin Parekh senior director of strategic marketing.
Parekh 39, succeeds Joseph Laia, who has been promoted to vice president and general manager for Novellus' high density plasma (HDP) products.
In his new position, Parekh will manage Novellus' long-term business development plans and identifyemerging markets and technologies. He will report directly to Richard S. Hill, Novellus' chairman and CEO.
"With Parekh heading up our strategic marketing organization, we've strengthened our internal infrastructure, and will be better able to respond to customers' emerging needs," said Hill. "Here at Novellus, his group will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing new business concepts, technologies and partnerships. Under Nitin's stewardship, strategic marketing will ensure that our technology roadmaps and business acquisitions remain focused on delivering innovative products to our customers."
Prior to joining Novellus, Parekh was with Texas Instruments Inc., where he led a team to develop the Storage Product Group's business plan for read-channel and pre-amp process technology. Parekh has 16 years of experience in the semiconductor industry in various management and technologist positions, leading research, development and productization for both logic and SRAM devices.
In addition to TI, he worked at Silicon Systems Inc., in Santa Cruz, Calif., Philips' Advanced Development and Manufacturing Center in the Netherlands, and at Xerox Corp.'s Palo Alto Research Center.
