Costa Mesa, Calif. - MGE UPS Systems bills its new EX RT family of uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) as the first on-line type with dual-feed AC input sources to provide a double layer of power availability for industrial applications. The rugged 5-, 7- and 11-kVA mid-range power systems, in a 6U (10.5 inches high) rack-mounted enclosure, are also said to be among the smallest models available in this power range. They are easily integrated with building management systems (through JBus), offering facility managers easy monitoring and control of their power systems. "By incorporating double-conversion on-line UPS topology with built-in automatic bypass, these units assure robust operation with the highest level of power conditioning and optimized battery use including the ability to add extended battery packs for multi-hour backup times," said Long Tran, product manager.
These UPSes, which provide a selectable 200-250 VAC at 50-60 Hz, deliver up to two hours of battery backup and up to eight hours with an optional charger module and extended battery cabinet. The EX RT's modules and batteries are hot-swappable. To ensure battery availability, the UPSes automatically test their batteries to provide protection against deep discharges.
Other options include integration kits for extended run-times, and power distribution units. Ethernet/SNMP cards are also available, as well as Network Management System (NMS) integration with HP OpenView, IBM Tivioli, Netview and CA Unicenter. The EX RT family features an intuitive multi-lingual LCD control panel that displays operating mode, battery capacity and voltage measurements as well as event logs and diagnostics.
The new models meet worldwide standards for safety including UL, TUV and CE. The UPSes are rated for operation over 32- to 104°F. They will operate for up to 8 hours at 113°F (ambient). List prices start at $3,635 for the 5-kVA system complete with the company's Solution Pac power management software. The new models can be serviced through the company's PowerServices program, which offers extended warranties.
