Carrollton, Tex. TT electronics OPTEK Technology offers a family of four-pin high-flux LEDs in a wide spectrum of colors and multiple viewing angles as an alternative to neon for signage applications. Designated the OVF series, these high current "Super-Flux" LEDs are available in white, blue, green, amber, red/orange and red in 7.6 mm2 through-hole packages with water clear lenses that provide viewing angles from 40 to 120 degrees.
These square, high-power LEDs can be used in arrays or mounted in housings for display and signage applications. The company notes that with their higher current operation, the four-pin packages enable designers to use fewer LEDs in the arrays to achieve the same light output. These devices are also finding homes in exterior automotive lighting applications such as tail lights, turn indicators and brake lights.
The OVFS series LEDs are available in blue (470 nm InGaN) with a typical luminous flux of 850 millilumens (mlm) measured at a forward current of 30 mA and a viewing angle of 60°. The green LED (525 nm InGaN) comes with a typical flux of 2500 mlm at 30 mA, and a 60° viewing angle. The amber LED (591 nm AlInGaP) provides a typical flux of 5000 mlm at 70 mA, and a 90° viewing angle. The red/orange device (618 nm AlInGaP) offers a typical flux of 4500 mlm at 70mA with a 40° viewing angle, and the red device (624nm AlInGaP ) supplies a typical flux of 4500 mlm at 70mA with a viewing angle of 90°. The OVFS white LEDs (InGaN) exhibit a typical flux of 1200 mlm at 30mA with a viewing angle of 60°.
The OVFT series LEDs are available in blue (470 nm InGaN) with a typical luminous flux of 360 mlm at 20mA and a viewing angle of 120° and green (525 nm InGaN) with a typical flux of 960 mlm at 20 mA and 120° viewing angle. The yellow LED (589nm AlInGaP) comes with a typical flux of 3360 mlm at 70mA with a viewing angle of 120°. The red/orange LED (618nm AlInGaP) provides a typical flux of 3360 mlm at 70 mA and a 120° viewing angle, and red (624 nm AlInGaP) offers 3000 mlm at 70 mA with a viewing angle of 120°. The OVFT white LEDs (InGaN) exhibit a typical flux of 600 mlm at 20 mA with a viewing angle of 120°.
All the OVF series LEDs are rated for operation between -40°C and 100°C and are compatible with lead-free soldering processes.
Pricing for the OVF series starts at $0.21 each in quantities of 10,000. Delivery is from stock to eight weeks.
