Smyrna, Ga. Murata Electronics North America has introduced an enhanced 0201 surface-mount ferrite bead series that is designed to meet the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) electromagnetic interference (EMI) regulations and minimize attenuation in high-speed signals. This makes the new BLM03BB series a good fit for Bluetooth and WLAN modules as well as power amplifier modules for cell phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), laptops and other applications with limited board space.
To enable designers to downsize portable electronic devices while providing EMI filtering, the new BLM03BB series also allows manufacturers to meet government regulations regarding noise suppression for high current power lines in limited board space products. These FCC requirements were needed to prevent an increase in EMI from the influx of equipment such as computers and fax machines for both home and office use, according to the company.
The surface-mount ferrite bead series also reduces attenuation to the desired high-speed signal through sharp impedance characteristics, said the company. The impedance values range from 10 ohms to 120 ohms. The series is also suitable for higher speed signals when compared to conventional 0201 ferrite beads.
The RoHS-compliant BLM03 ferrite beads are available for the sample price of five cents. Delivery is approximately eight to ten weeks.
