San Diego, Calif. Pulse, a Technitrol Company, has introduced several series of inductors and transformers for military/aerospace power applications. These new rugged devices include the SLED PL8100 series of rail-mount inductors, the SLIC PL8200 and PL8300 series of self-leaded package transformers and inductors, and the POGO PL8400 series transformers.
Pulse's military off-the-shelf (MOTS) catalog power components meet today's military and aerospace mechanical and electrical design requirements. Offered in four package sizes, SLED toroid surface-mount inductors with a ruggedized header use two rails for board mounting and cores bonded to high-temperature headers for durability and mechanical strength. These devices are available with current ratings up to 14.3 amps direct current (ADC) and frequencies up to 1 MHz.
SLIC series devices are available as inductors and transformers. For increased mechanical durability, the structural header of the devices is bonded to the cores and lead wires. They are available in current ratings up to 38 ADC and in an inductance range of 1.1 to 18.1 μH. The footprint measures 31.0 x 25.4-mm maximum with a maximum height of 12.7mm.
The POGO and SLED transformers and inductors have pad or rail mounting configurations used for both board mounting and electrical connection. POGO and SLED packages are available in sizes from 10.25 x 8.75 x 6.35-mm high to 32 x 27 x 12-mm high. These devices are offered with current ratings up to 23.8 ADC and operating frequencies to 1 MHz. All parts can withstand temperatures of -55°C to 130°C.
Pricing averages $1.42 for the PL8100 series, $1.84 for the PL8200 and PL8300 devices, and $1.56 for the PL8400 series, in quantities of 2,500, depending on configuration and shipping destination.
