South Portland, Maine—Fairchild Semiconductor, in a package that's just 1-by-1.5-by-0.65 mm, says its FDZ191P is the industry's smallest footprint p-channel MOSFET for optimized low-voltage power management applications.
The 20-volt PowerTrench device, with thermally enhanced performance, is suited for power conversion, charging and load management applications. It's particularly suited to cell phones, digital cameras, MP3 players, medical devices, and other portable products that increasingly pack "smart" functionality into smaller spaces.
The MOSFET, in a WL-CSP (chip scale package) that cuts board space requirements by at least 30 percent, features a continuous drain current rating of 3 amps, low RDS (67 milliohms at Vgs 4.5 volts), high thermal resistance (83°C/W, when mounted on a 1-by-1 inch copper pad), and can operate down to 1.5 volts.
This lead (Pb)-free device meets or exceeds the requirements of the joint IPC/JEDEC standard J-STD-020C and is compliant with European Union regulations now in effect. The FDZ191P meets all "green" and RoHS standards required by electronic applications worldwide.
