Curtiss-Wright has announced the CHAMP-AV5, the first DSP VME board based on the 1682 Power Architecture from P.A. Semi. The CHAMP-AV5 brings the highest performance Power Architecture processor to the VME64x form factor. Based on a pair of 2 GHz dual-core 1682 processors, the CHAMP-AV5 doubles the performance of the previous generation. It provides 64 GFLOPs of performance and FPGA-based acceleration for signal processing applications. The CHAMP-AV5 is pin-compatible with the 7447/7448-based CHAMP-AV4, allowing for performance upgrades without changing chassis, backplane, or power supplies of existing qualified systems.
Each processor on the CHAMP-AV5 is equipped with two banks of DDR2 SDRAM with a peak bandwidth over 8GB/s. The CHAMP-AV5 QuadFlow Express architecture provides each processor with an 8-lane, 4GB/s PCIe connection. Two PMC/XMC sites are available, served with 4-lane 2GB/s PCIe connections.
The CHAMP-AV5 is supported with Curtiss-Wright's Continuum Software Architecture. This support includes the Continuum Vector signal processing libraries and the Continuum IPC high-performance inter-processor communications library. The CHAMP-AV5 also features a VxWorks Board Support Package.
