MediaTek displayed its MT6605 chip, a 3-Single-Wire Protocol NFC solution that supports all three configurations -- A, B, and F. Previously, companies had to build three chips to support A, B, and F solutions. The MT6605 is available in current MTK devices. MediaTek overcame issues with peak amplitudes by implementing automatic input control levels into the phone's receiver.
The NFC solution also has an intelligent synthesizer that allows a NFC reader to speed up recognition of A, B, and F by holding on to a previously known state. Using a tri-mode, reconfigurable phase locking loop to generate a stable frequency, MediaTek also overcame large dips in amplitude where the NFC signal drops off.
