They charge a lot for the hardware and way too much for electricity. How is that a viable business model? The beauty with scooters is that you are fine charging at home.

In Taiwan they seem to be charging between 4.3 and 8.3 USD cents per km.  They'll argue that it includes the battery leasing but given the very high cost of the scooter (starts at US$ 2400) and how tiny the battery is, that's nonsense. For context , Tesla with Model 3 will charge about 1TWD per km at their Superchargers to power a 4,000 lb car while Gogoro goes up to 2.5TWD per km, to power a scooter.

With those prices, they'll go under in a matter of years as car as a service runs them over.
