The dual-core CPU and cache make up ~17 percent of the die area of the A7 (above). A quad-core GPU and shared logic account for about 22 percent. "The A7 CPU itself is not packed the same way as the A6 [below], it looks much more like a conventional automated layout," Chipworks said.
There is still active debate whether the A7 CPU is a custom design. Some suggest it could be an ARM A53/57 combo.
