It was ever thus. Broadcom made a large number of acquisitions just over a decade ago. As I remember they were usually paid for with "paper." In other words newly-issued stock certificates. This time around it seems that Broadcom is more prepared to, and able to, pay with cash.

I think the M&A team at Broadcom is working overtime. This is their 6th acquisition in the last 15 months.
