Maybe after bondholder displeasure, it was arranged to have other parties participate to buy pieces so that the total package is enough for the debt, but the amount to pay per party is less?

Apparently Micron's offer was better than the Hony/TPG one. But I haven't heard specifically why. Part of the deal Micron made, as I understand it, was agreeing to keep Elpida's Hiroshima fab open.

Is Elpida is a really good buy for Micron/Hynix?

coz micron is very selfish/greedy, don't want to see other folks benefit from it... typical inland farmer logic ?

When Qimonda went under, Micron and others were able to hire the ex-Qimonda engineers they wanted most, and TI bought all the equipment from their Richmond fab at very good prices. Micron can benefit from the Elpida implosion the same way. I don't understand why buying a disfunctional company and assuming all of their debts is a good thing. Let the company liquidate and acquire the pieces you really want.

I suppose this would be allowed if Micron's offer was actually rejected. What happened to the bid from Hony/TPG?

this is a better idea, MU don't have to leave the game, they can pick up some mobile tech etc. a yard sell in the end.

Is this going to turn into a bidding war? Analysts said Micron buying Elpida would be good for DRAM as a whole. If indeed Hynix and Globalfoundries but the company's assets, is it still good news for the DRAM industry?
