I'd love to hear insights about the outlook for this concept of microstimulators and electro-ceuticals.

The more than 200 microwatts the technique delivers far exceeds the 8 mW consumed by today's pacemakers.

Sounds good.  In the above statement 200 microwatts is less than 8 milliwatts (mW).  Maybe the pacemakers consume 8 microwatts (uW)?

@Zeeglen: Yes, both measurements should be in microwatts.

I am just curious to know how the power trasnmission is  made directional , to reach the implant and not go any other way.

Or is it that the power gets transmistted over a circular area ?

How the power gets generated? Dont know how safe it would be.

That's correct, pacemakers consume 8 microwatts of power, not milliwatts.

Delivering power and commands to an embedded nano blood biochemical analysis 'lab', and then receiving results would be an extremely important advance in diagnostic and preventive medicine. Using the technology for drug delivery and, or, various stimuli would likewise be extremely important.

"...To keep the implants small, many microstimulators will have no battery."

If there are no batteries being used for the microstimulator, how is the microstimulator charged? Is it a super-capacitor that is used on the microstimulator instead of a battery which gets charged through the living tissue when the "credit card sizex" charger is placed on the skin?
