Dr. Arati Prabhakar has to be lauded for leading the way US government entities  evolve with the times. She had a distinguished leadership tenure at NIST and was responsible for increasing its outreach with industries in my opinion.

Regarding DARPA funding GaN research in RF and power devices, here is a link that lists companies funded:
