Quick financial play by China?
junko.yoshida   8/19/2014 9:02:13 AM
NO RATINGS
Whether this will come to an actual acquisition remains hardly clear. Omnivision received this offer a week ago.

As the story tells us, the investment group led by Hua Capital Managament (HCM) includes Shanghai Pudong Science and Technology Investment Co. Ltd (PDSTI).

If you recall, PDSTI is the same state-owned investment fund that's in the process of acquiring Montage Technology.

(see the story here: http://www.eetimes.com/document.asp?doc_id=1323511)

After Omnivision made the Chinese offer public, one of the U.S. industry observers who closely follows China closely noted: "I believe those are financial plays than anything else for now."
