What is the point of trying to start 21st. century industries in a country enslaved by a mediaeval theocracy? Anything that supports their economy would assist their nuclear ambitions, and delay the liberation of the smart and cultured population of Iran from donkey-riding mullahs.

Agreed...specilization may be key to success as much as entrepreneurialism could be key to a more prosperous economy and a little peace

Not sure we need another silicon valley Rick...there is less silicon chips designed every year...perhaps focusing on something new, say energy harvesting, car batteries, nanotechnologies, novel materials or articificial inteliggence would be a better use of increadible brain resources in Iran

Back in the day when I was based in Hong Kong there was a lot of talk about commercial ties with China as the road to democracy. That hasn't panned out, but I still think it's better than isolation and distrust, and certainly better than war.

I'd love to hear about other efforts to spread high tech entrepreneurialism to this globe's hot spots.
